My name's James Colin, I live in Ashford, UK but english is not my native language, so bear with me. I first used the internet in 1996 and have been publishing websites since 1997. I began to make money though web advertising sales in 2000 and have been exploring online revenue means ever since. I currently earn a regularly growing, comfortable income (by western european standards) and I feel I am now in a position where I can help others who are following the same path as I am.

That's the reason why I am starting this site in fall 2007, because I thought combining a blog and a wiki would be the perfect match.
- A blog, powered by WordPress of course, this is a no-brainer, which other blogging platform could you choose? Dotclear? Well, no.
- A wiki, powered by MediaWiki, here again why choosing something less than the wiki system powering WikiPedia? No reason.
So I simply installed those 2 scripts in their own folders on the same domain name and made a homepage to link to both parts. So when I make a post on my blog, if needed I can link to pages of my wiki for reference.
- On a blog user interaction is through comments, maybe poll voting, etc.
- On a wiki user interaction is through pages modifications, well if you allow it to happen. Primarly using a wiki in my situation would be for ease of use for myself, so most of the page will not be editable by visitors.
So this was my short explanation of why I start this experiment, I could have used a CMS of choice such as Drupal or Joomla, those can do a blog, wiki and more all in one. But it is a good experience for me to be using WordPress and MediaWiki, two scripts that I never used before, unlike Drupal and Joomla.
Edit [may 2008] : I had to change my decision, so now I deleted the WordPress blog and installed a Drupal 6.2 where I have the functionnality of a blog and a wiki altogether. My experience with WordPress was very satisfactory, especially since lots of things are made for WordPress or are WordPress compatible, but I had to end the experience because I was receiving lots of traffic and despite having cache enabled, my web hosting company told me the load was very high, surely a problem with one of the numerous plugins I used. At least with Drupal I know what to expect in terms of performance with cache enabled.
