Integrating GetResponse autoresponder with Joomla CMS will definitively be trickier than integrating AWeber because it seems there's way less material covering GetResponse integration in general, including on their own site and support forums. There is no API or database integration. There are settings where you can email to a specific email (e.g. subscribeme@yoursite.com) and get added though which could probably be leveraged to achieve this.
Ideally, when a new member subscribe to your Joomla site, he would then be subscribed to one of your lists (or at least a confirmation email from GetResponse should be sent to his email address) and then later on he would have the choice of subscribing to more lists directly from your Joomla site.
Well, it's definitively not that simple, here's what I've found:
Build Your Email Subscriber List With GetResponse in Joomla. This is an old module which has not been updated for over a year, it should work nevertheless, but don't expect too much in terms of integration with the Joomla's user registering process...
Here's what the module description says:
Put an email subscription form on each page of your website. The subscription list works with GetResponse.com, an affordable and user-friendly email service provider. You can sign up now for free, and receive free email marketing tutorials. Once you install this module, you will have the following options: * Your GetReponse.com account id. This is necessary for the component to work. * Your GetReponse.com list name. This is also necessary for the component to work. * A description above the input field, to motivate people to sign up. * An email description. This defaults to 'your email'. This is what appears beside the email input field. * A name description. This defaults to 'your name'. This is what appears beside the nameinput field. * A submit description. This defaults to 'Send me the free newsletter!'. This is what appears on the submit button label. You need to sign up for a GetResponse.com to use this module.
GetResponse module for Joomla. This is simply the module's author page, just in case you want more background information on this module.
If you want to use the provided forms directly in Joomla and don't care much about Joomla's registration process, then this module will allow you to copy and paste the provided HTML code directly:
Use this Joomla module if you want to add a javascript popup opt-in form from GetResponse to a Joomla site. Mod_HTML allows you to Add Any HTML or JavaScript code to your Mambo or Joomla Website CMS via a module.
That's it for integrating GetResponse into Joomla, I told you the options were light.

Actually GetResponse is just
Actually GetResponse is just slightly more difficult than Aweber, but because they have an API it is a much more robust solution. Aweber could definately learn a thing or two from Implix - especially about how to allow integrations.
Here's the extension I wrote:

you can't manage subscriptions from inside Joomla!, but it does automatically and quickly add your prospects to your list the moment they sign up.
Of course, if all you want is an "opt in" box one of the other modules would be fine ... though it's probably just easier to add custom HTML to a module position or directly to your page, as you mention.
Thanks for the excellent
Thanks for the excellent joomla tutorial on integrating getresponse and Nick for his extension. Now if only affiliate solutions for Joomla were not delivered in iframes I would have the perfect tool set.
