Integrating AWeber autoresponder with Joomla CMS

Integrating AWeber autoresponder with Joomla CMS could be tricky, depending on what exactly you want to do...

Ideally, when a new member subscribe to your Joomla site, he would then be subscribed to one of your lists (or at least a confirmation email from AWeber should be sent to his email address) and then later on he would have the choice of subscribing to more lists directly from your Joomla site.

Well, it's not that simple, here's what I've found:

Import your Letterman / Joomla list into AWeber. If you have subscribers in the Letterman component of Joomla you'd like to transfer to your AWeber account, this is the page you're looking for.

How to add an opt-in form from AWeber to a Joomla site. Integrating Joomla with AWeber's email service is easy. It takes just a few steps to get a form published to your web pages. This tutorial show you how to install and activate the AWeber Joomla module.

AWeber Joomla module. This Module will allow you to place an Aweber subscription form on your Joomla site. It is pretty basic, but it allows you to gather a name and e-mail address of a potential Newsletter subscriber for use with the 3rd party autoresponder Aweber.

Alternate URL for the AWeber Joomla module. This is the same module as above, but this URL is on the official Joomla.org site, just in case the author's website is down for some reason.

Here is a description of this module:

This Module will add an Aweber Opt-In form, (Subscription form, Newsletter sign up form, whatever you want to call it) onto your Joomla! powered website. You can decide where on the site it displays through your regular control panel in Joomla! Simply enter the Aweber list name and tracking information (optional) and you are ready to go. The Module collects Name and E-Mail address and submits them to your Aweber list. Confirmation e-mail is automatically sent by your Aweber account. Aweber is a 3rd party Autoresponder service and recognized as a leader in that industry, although GetResponse is also disputing this place. This Module is not part of the regular registration process for your site. This provides an Opt-In form for the specific task of sign up for your Aweber based newsletter.

Another AWeber module for Joomla. This one is much simpler, you should give it a try too, maybe it suits your need better.

If you want to use the provided forms directly in Joomla and don't care much about Joomla's registration process, then this module will allow you to copy and paste the provided HTML code directly:

Use this Joomla module if you want to add a javascript popup opt-in form from AWeber to a Joomla site. Mod_HTML allows you to Add Any HTML or JavaScript code to your Mambo or Joomla Website CMS via a module.

That's it for integrating AWeber into Joomla.

There is an even simpler way

There is an even simpler way to add an Aweber form in Joomla 1.5 using just the native module and banner manager in Admin. I use this method successfully with Adsense code as well:

1. Create your Aweber form using the Aweber form manager and copy either the Javascript or HTML.
2. In Joomla create a Banner category e.g. Aweber Opt-In.
3. In Joomla create a new Banner and paste in the Aweber form code in the section called 'custom banner code'.
4. Assign a client and banner category.
5. In Joomla go to the module manager a create a new module using the banner template.
6. While still in the module manager under parameters, assign the Aweber Opt-In category for this new module.
7. Decide on the location for this module e.g. left, right etc.

Try this, it's really very easy and requires no special plugin and can be used for Adsense code as well. If you decide to paste in the Aweber Javascript, you will be able to change the look and feel of your form without having to make changes to your module (its calling an Aweber script).

Hope this helps folks.

Thank you very much for this

Thank you very much for this simple way of adding custom html. I have just added the aweber tracking code by using this method. I've published the module on every page. Hopefully I don't have to add seperate modules for each page?
Thanks
Mike

Wow very very helpful wonderful information Please keep blogging!!

I will, i will, don't you

I will, i will, don't you worry about that!

how much i have to pay for

how much i have to pay for aweber account?

Price for aweber is as

Price for aweber is as follow:
As long as you don't have more than 500 emails in your list it's:
per month: $19
per 3 months: $49
per year: $194

As soon as your list is over 500 emails you pay more, per month:
up to 2500: $10
up to 5000: $30
up to 10000: $50
up to 25000: $130
more than 25000: surprise price!

This aweber pricing is valid as of april 2010.

Not really cheap, let's say you have between 5000 and 10000 emails, you would pay per year: $194 + 12 * $30 = $554 or $1.52 per day. You would really need to monetize this email list seriously.

Please write something in the box below, a comment, a question, anything at all. You can even post links I don't mind at all. But please post something. If you leave this page without writing anything all your beloved ones will die instantly. Come on, don't be a rat, write something. I'll even give you money, and lot of it! You can do it, if you don't do it for me, do it for someone else, anybody, I don't care, could be for Obama or for the pope, but do it NOW before it's too late! Please, pretty please?
